Research at EleCREW
– Elephant Welfare studies: Assist in ongoing research examining the physiological responses of our elephant herd during human interactions, assessing welfare imapcts from different enviroments.
– Nighttime Management Observations: Help analyze how changes in the management of enclosures improve sleep patterns, social interactons 7 reduce problem behaviours among the EleCREW herd.
– Communication Studies: Engage in research focused on Elephant communication methods, including vocalizations & gestures in social settings.
– Comparative Behaviour Analysis: Work with PhD candidates to observe and compare wild elephant behaviour to those in captivity, contributing to crucial insights about their natural instincts.
– Urban Elephant Interactions: Investigate the challenges faced by urban elephant popoulation in Victoria Falls, furthering our undrstanding and impact of initiatives designed to improve their welfare.
– Innovative Research Projects: Collabrate with PhD and Master’s students on various experimental studies, such as elephant intentionality and social network identification.
